Cyber Knifetreatment of neurosurgical targets

Well defined targets of the central nervous system are suited for intracranial CyberKnife treatment. For all targets, microsurgical treatment is also available and the treatment recommendation is always case specific. Small targets, 30 mm or less, can be treated with a single fraction. For larger targets, treatment is fractionated in several sessions. For tumors, intent of the treatment is to reduce tumor size or to stop its growth. For arteriovenous malformations the intent is their full closure.

Intracranial targets

  • meningeoma, schwannoma, pituitary gland adenoma, craniopharyngioma, hemangioblastoma, pilocytic astrocytoma etc…
  • cancer metastases, ependymoma, chordoma etc...
  • brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
  • dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF)
  • trigeminal neuralgia

Treatment of intracranial patologies will be discussed in KUHs multidiciplinary groups: neuro-oncology, pons-group, pain-group etc…
